What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a research study in which human volunteers are given a new medical treatment. These trial participants are then compared with other participants who didn’t receive the treatment. By comparing the two groups, researchers can determine if the new treatment offers any medical benefit and whether it causes side effects.
