Wishing Turkey Strength and Resilience

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred in Turkey this morning. The earthquake caused many buildings to collapse and more than 1500 people in Turkey have lost their lives, according to early estimates.  

At 4:17 a.m. on February 6, 2023, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş. The earthquake was followed by several aftershocks, the largest of which had a magnitude of 7.5. According to early estimates, at least 1500 people lost their lives in Turkey, and more than 2,800 buildings were destroyed in the earthquake, which was felt intensely in the surrounding provinces, especially in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Osmaniye, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Malatya, and Adana.
