Get ahead of standard treatments for ALK-positive cancer. Participating in a clinical trial for ALK-positive cancer gives you access to the latest therapies.
Call +1 844 627 7246If your doctor has told you that your cancer is ALK-positive, it means that you have certain alterations, or mutations, in the ALK gene. Normally, the ALK gene helps cells grow, but an ALK mutation can promote cancer. Genetic testing can determine if you have the ALK mutation.
Currently, doctors may test for the presence of this mutation to make treatment decisions in patients with a few conditions, including non-small cell lung cancer and anaplastic large cell lymphoma. However, scientists have discovered that rare cases of certain other cancers may be driven by a mutation in ALK. Clinical trials are underway that could one day lead to new ovarian cancer treatment options, for example, or alternative thyroid cancer treatment options. Other studies, such as pancreatic cancer clinical trials including patients who are ALK positive, have shown promise.
A clinical trial is a research study in which scientists evaluate the effectiveness and safety of new medical treatments. That includes new drugs or novel combinations of drugs for treating cancer and other diseases. Every drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had to be tested first in clinical trials.
